All-Party Parliamentary Group
on Vascular and Venous Disease

News > APPG Annual General Meeting

On January 19th, Parliamentarians from across the political divide came together to discuss vascular disease.

Chair of the group Neil Carmichael MP opened the meeting and provided an update on the groups recent activities including his address to the British Invasive Radiology Conference in November 2014. The election of officers took place with Neil Carmichael MP being re-elected Chair of the group, and Chi Onwurah MP and Peter Bottomley MP remaining Vice-Chairs.

The group went on to discuss APPG’s recent report Tackling Peripheral Arterial Disease more Effectively highlighting the need to implement its recommendations. After which, the campaign plan for the forthcoming year was presented and following a short discussion was approved.

The New Year presents a general election and with it many challenges and opportunities. It is likely that the new intake will see a change of membership, but with this comes an opportunity to engage with a fresh collective of MPs; ensuring the group continues to remain a powerful voice in Westminster.
